How big is it really?

18 in / 46 cm across the round, and 24 in / 61 cm end to end with the handle. An inch thick, with a bevelled edge.

Is it heavy?

Can I put it in the dishwasher?

No. Hand wash it and dry it straight away — acacia is open-grained and will drink water if you leave it sitting.

Round Acacia Serving Board

A round board cut from solid acacia with a short flat handle shaped into one side and a thin leather cord looped through it, so it can hang on the wall between uses. Acacia runs dark and open-grained, and the figure changes from board to board, so no two leave looking the same.

Eighteen inches across is enough for a full spread — cheese, bread, fruit and the knives to go with them. An inch thick and eight pounds, so it stays put on the counter, and light enough to carry to the table by the handle and leave there as the serving piece.

Most boards live in a cupboard. This one hangs, because the grain is worth looking at when you are not using it. Lift it down, load it, carry it to the table by the handle and leave it there as the serving piece.

A few things worth knowing before it arrives.

What are the full dimensions?

18 in / 46 cm across, 24 in / 61 cm long including the handle, 1 in / 2.5 cm thick. It weighs 8.1 lb / 3.7 kg.

Can I cut on it?

Yes. Acacia is hard enough to take a knife, though like any board it will pick up marks with use.

How should I clean it?

Hand wash with warm water, dry it straight away and never leave it soaking. The dishwasher will ruin it.

Should I oil it?

Every few months, with any food-safe wood oil. It keeps the grain dark and stops the surface drying out.

Will it hang flat?

Yes. The cord is looped through the handle and the board sits against the wall on its back face.
