Dyed
Through the wax
The colour is mixed into the wax before the candle is formed, so it is the same at the wick as at the base.
DYED-THROUGH TAPERS12 candles
Unscented · About four hours each
Twelve unscented tapers, six inches each, dyed through so the colour does not stop at the surface as they burn. Black is the one candle colour that disappears against every wall instead of competing with it.

Twelve, six inches each. Enough to keep a table going for a season.
Around four hours apiece, which covers a long dinner without needing a change.
The colour runs through the whole candle rather than sitting on the outside. Surface-dyed tapers go pale as they burn down; these do not.
No, deliberately. A scented candle on a dining table competes with the food.

Orders are prepared in 1–3 business days. Delivery then takes 3–7 business days from a US warehouse, or 7–20 from an overseas workshop. Tracking arrives by email, and an order with several pieces can turn up in more than one parcel.
Changed your mind? You have thirty days. Return shipping within the US is on us.
We work with solid wood, stone, glass and natural fibre, chosen for how they age rather than how they photograph. Every piece is finished by hand, so grain, tone and outline shift from one to the next.
A SMALL THING
White candles read as formal and cream reads as rustic. Black reads as nothing at all — it takes the colour of whatever wall is behind it and leaves the flame as the only thing on the table. It is the least decorative candle there is, which is why it goes with everything.

MATERIAL & MAKING
Dye in the wax, not on it.
Dyed
The colour is mixed into the wax before the candle is formed, so it is the same at the wick as at the base.
Even
A surface-dyed taper goes streaky and pale as it burns. This one keeps its colour down to the last inch.
Unscented
No fragrance load in the wax, which also means a cleaner flame and less soot.
Standard
The ordinary taper size, so any holder in the house takes them.
FROM THE WORKSHOP
“Dyeing the surface is cheaper and nobody notices in the shop. Two hours into the evening they notice, because the candle has gone grey halfway down and the top looks like a different one.

GOOD TO KNOW
A few things worth knowing before it arrives.
Yes — standard taper size, including the wooden and ceramic holders in this shop.
Out of a draught, very little. Keep them away from open windows and fans.
Not if the wick is trimmed to about a quarter inch before each burn.
Unscented candles are the ones that belong on a table — nothing to interfere with what you are eating.
Flat, somewhere cool and dark. Tapers left standing in a warm room will bow over time.

Made by hand
Every piece is shaped, sanded and finished in a small workshop. Grain, tone and outline move from one to the next, so the piece that arrives is yours rather than a copy of the photograph.
