How big is it?

12 in / 30 cm wide and 5 in / 13 cm tall. Low and wide, so it works on a sideboard under a picture rather than on the floor.

Can I put water in it?

No. It is not watertight. Dried stems, pampas or a single branch are what the openings are cut for.

How wide are the openings?

Narrow — enough for a few dried stems each, not for a full bouquet. That is what keeps the silhouette readable.

Does it work empty?

That is how it is designed. The half circle is the object; the stems are optional.

The mouths are narrow: dried stems, pampas, a single branch. Not watertight — keep it to dried. Twelve inches wide, five tall.

A QUIET OBJECT

A shape first, a vase second

Most vases look unfinished until you fill them. This one is a half circle before it is anything else, so it holds a sideboard on its own. Put two dried stems through the openings and you have changed the silhouette rather than filled a container.

A shape that a wheel cannot make, in solid stoneware.

Pressed clay

A half circle has no axis to turn on, so it is pressed rather than thrown. That is why the wall is even the whole way round.

Dense body

Fired hard, with real weight to it. Heavy enough that a tall branch will not tip it.

Black finish

Flat black, so the outline stays crisp against a pale wall and the eye reads shape rather than surface.

Cut

Two openings

Narrow slots along the top edge. Enough for stems, not enough to break the line of the arc.

A few things worth knowing before it arrives.

Is it watertight?

No. Keep it to dried material — pampas, bare branches, preserved stems.

How many stems fit?

A few in each opening. It is designed for a spare arrangement rather than a full one.

Will it tip over?

Stoneware at this size has real weight and the base is wide. A tall, heavy branch leaned right over is the only way to unbalance it.

How do I clean it?

A damp cloth. The matte finish does not like abrasive cream, and it should never go in a dishwasher.

Does it come in other colours?

Black is the one we make. It is the finish that lets the silhouette read as a shape rather than as pottery.
