Seagrass
Cut, dried and woven. It smells faintly of hay when new, which is how you know nothing was sprayed on it.
HAND-WOVEN SEAGRASS16 in / 41 cm
Shallow oval · A handle at each end
Seagrass woven by hand into a shallow oval with a handle at each end, sixteen inches long. Light enough to lift with one hand when it is full of bread, sturdy enough to live on the counter with fruit in it.

16 in / 41 cm long, handle to handle, and shallow. A loaf and a half, or fruit for the week.
Because it is real seagrass. The smell is strongest when it is new and fades over the first weeks.
Yes. Natural seagrass lightens to a paler straw over the first months and then holds. It is the same for every basket.
Shake it out, then vacuum it with a brush head. Keep it out of damp rooms and never soak it.

We work with solid wood, stone, glass and natural fibre, chosen for how they age rather than how they photograph. Every piece is finished by hand, so grain, tone and outline shift from one to the next.
A QUIET OBJECT
A shallow basket on a counter is not storage, it is a habit. Bread goes in flat rather than stacked, fruit stays visible instead of going soft at the bottom of a bowl, and when people arrive you lift the whole thing to the table by its two handles.

MATERIAL & MAKING
No frame, no glue, no lining. Just the weave.
Natural
Cut, dried and woven. It smells faintly of hay when new, which is how you know nothing was sprayed on it.
Woven
Every basket is worked by a person, so the weave tightens and loosens slightly around the oval.
Shallow
Deep enough to hold, low enough that you can see what is in it without looking in.
Handled
Worked into the rim rather than added on, so there is nothing to come loose when the basket is full.
FROM THE WORKSHOP
“Seagrass has to be woven while it still has some damp in it. Too dry and it snaps, too wet and the basket goes slack as it dries. The window is short, so the whole thing is made in one sitting.

GOOD TO KNOW
A few things worth knowing before it arrives.
Yes. A cloth or a napkin inside makes crumbs easier to deal with, but the basket itself is fine.
That is what the shallow shape is for — a single visible layer rather than a pile that bruises.
No. Water swells the grass and slackens the weave. Shake it out and use a vacuum brush.
Yes. The handles are worked into the rim rather than glued on, so the load runs through the weave.
Close. Hand weaving means the tension varies slightly, so the oval is never identical twice.

Made by hand
Every piece is shaped, sanded and finished in a small workshop. Grain, tone and outline move from one to the next, so the piece that arrives is yours rather than a copy of the photograph.
