Stone
Travertine
The same stone used on floors and facades, cut down to the size of a glass. Porous, warm-toned, full of small holes.
TRAVERTINE · SET OF FOUR4 in / 10 cm
Real stone · Scalloped edge
Four coasters cut from travertine with a softly scalloped edge, four inches across and half an inch thick. Stone absorbs a ring instead of sliding it around, and it sounds right when a glass goes down.

Four. Each is 4 in / 10 cm across and about half an inch thick.
Travertine is porous, so a wet ring darkens while it sits and fades as it dries. Wine or oil left overnight can leave a shadow — wipe them rather than letting things stand.
The underside is finished flat. On a delicate lacquer, check the base before you slide one across.
The cut is. The stone is not — pitting and veining run differently through every piece, which is how you know it is quarried and not cast.

Each one carries its own pitting and veining. Wipe with a damp cloth; a wet ring will darken briefly and fade.

Orders are prepared in 1–3 business days. Delivery then takes 3–7 business days from a US warehouse, or 7–20 from an overseas workshop. Tracking arrives by email, and an order with several pieces can turn up in more than one parcel.
Changed your mind? You have thirty days. Return shipping within the US is on us.
We work with solid wood, stone, glass and natural fibre, chosen for how they age rather than how they photograph. Every piece is finished by hand, so grain, tone and outline shift from one to the next.
A QUIET OBJECT
Cork gives you nothing. Felt slides. Stone takes the weight of a glass with a small, flat sound and then stays exactly where it is. It is a detail nobody comments on and everybody notices.

MATERIAL & MAKING
Travertine from the block, shaped and edged four at a time.
Stone
The same stone used on floors and facades, cut down to the size of a glass. Porous, warm-toned, full of small holes.
Thick
Enough weight that it does not travel across the table when you lift the glass off it.
Scalloped
The rim is cut in a gentle wave rather than a hard circle, so the set reads as made rather than machined.
Individual
Pitting and mineral lines run differently through each coaster. They are a set, never a match.
FROM THE WORKSHOP
“People ask us to seal them and we do not. Sealed travertine behaves like plastic — the ring sits on top and slides. Left open, the stone takes the water in, holds it for a minute, and gives it back.

GOOD TO KNOW
A few things worth knowing before it arrives.
No. Unsealed stone is what absorbs the ring; a sealed coaster just lets it float and slide.
Wipe it straight away. Red wine left sitting on porous stone can leave a faint shadow, which usually fades but may not disappear entirely.
Yes. Stone handles heat better than cork or wood — a hot mug will not mark it.
A damp cloth. No bleach, no abrasive cream, and no soaking.
No, that is travertine. The small pits are part of how the stone forms, and they are the reason it reads as stone across the room.

Made by hand
Every piece is shaped, sanded and finished in a small workshop. Grain, tone and outline move from one to the next, so the piece that arrives is yours rather than a copy of the photograph.
