Unglazed
The outside comes out of the kiln as fired clay. Nothing is added to make it shine, which is why it reads chalky in daylight.
UNGLAZED POTTERY10 in / 25 cm
Rough outside · Low foot
Pottery left rough and unglazed on the outside, tapering in towards a low foot. Nearly ten inches across and four deep. The surface catches light the way unfinished clay does — chalky, uneven, nothing like a factory glaze.

Nearly 10 in / 25 cm across and 4 in / 10 cm deep. Wide enough to hold a coffee table on its own.
Dry, decorative things — rattan balls, dried stems, nothing. The clay is unsealed, so oil and water will mark it.
Because it is not glazed. The outside is left as fired clay, which is what gives it the chalky, uneven surface instead of a factory shine.
The shape will. The surface will vary — unglazed clay takes the kiln differently in every firing.

It earns its place empty on a coffee table. Decorative only; the unsealed clay marks with oil and water.

Orders are prepared in 1–3 business days. Delivery then takes 3–7 business days from a US warehouse, or 7–20 from an overseas workshop. Tracking arrives by email, and an order with several pieces can turn up in more than one parcel.
Changed your mind? You have thirty days. Return shipping within the US is on us.
We work with solid wood, stone, glass and natural fibre, chosen for how they age rather than how they photograph. Every piece is finished by hand, so grain, tone and outline shift from one to the next.
A QUIET OBJECT
A glazed bowl needs something in it to justify itself. This one does not. Left bare on a coffee table it reads as a shape and a surface, and the low foot lifts it just enough that it does not look put down by accident.

MATERIAL & MAKING
Clay, a kiln, and no glaze on the outside.
Raw
The outside comes out of the kiln as fired clay. Nothing is added to make it shine, which is why it reads chalky in daylight.
Tapered
The walls draw in towards a small base, so the bowl sits lightly rather than spreading out on the table.
Uneven
Wall thickness varies, the rim is not a perfect circle, and the surface carries the marks of being made.
Warm
Unglazed clay absorbs light instead of bouncing it, which is why it looks soft next to anything polished.
FROM THE WORKSHOP
“Glaze is the easy way to make a bowl look finished. Leaving it off means every mark stays visible, so the shape has to be right on its own. That is harder, and it is the whole point.

GOOD TO KNOW
A few things worth knowing before it arrives.
No. Unglazed clay is porous, so it is sold as a decorative piece. Anything oily or wet will soak in and stay.
Dry cloth or a soft brush only. Washing it puts water into the clay, which will darken it.
Fired clay can chip on a hard edge if you knock it. A chip on an unglazed piece shows the same colour underneath, so it stays quiet.
Because it is real clay with real thickness. Ceramic holds the temperature of the room, which is part of how you know it is not resin.
Yes. Wall thickness, rim shape and surface all vary between pieces — that is what an unglazed finish shows and a glaze hides.

Made by hand
Every piece is shaped, sanded and finished in a small workshop. Grain, tone and outline move from one to the next, so the piece that arrives is yours rather than a copy of the photograph.
