What are they for?

Honey, loose tea, ground coffee, salt — anything you measure by the spoon and keep in a jar.

Can they go in the dishwasher?

No. Hand wash them and dry them straight away; a dishwasher will dry the wood out and raise the grain.

Do I need to oil them?

Twice a year, with any food-safe oil. It takes a minute and it is the difference between a few years and a few decades.

Will they stain?

Wood takes colour from what it sits in. Honey and tea will darken them slightly over time, which most people like.

Description

Small spoons turned from a single piece of wood, for honey, loose tea, coffee or salt. Wood doesn't chill the hand or clink against a cup, and it never scratches a ceramic rim.

Hand wash and dry straight away. Rub in a little food-safe oil twice a year and they will outlast the drawer they live in.

Shipping and returns

Free shipping on every order, wherever you are. No minimum, no handling fee at checkout.

Orders are prepared in 1–3 business days. Delivery then takes 3–7 business days from a US warehouse, or 7–20 from an overseas workshop. Tracking arrives by email, and an order with several pieces can turn up in more than one parcel.

Changed your mind? You have thirty days. Return shipping within the US is on us.

Our materials

We work with solid wood, stone, glass and natural fibre, chosen for how they age rather than how they photograph. Every piece is finished by hand, so grain, tone and outline shift from one to the next.

More on how we choose them

A SMALL THING

No cold, no clink

A metal spoon in a honey jar is loud and cold, and it scratches the rim of a good cup. Wood does neither. It is the kind of swap you make once, stop thinking about, and would notice immediately if you went back.

MATERIAL & MAKING

One piece, no join

Turned from a single blank, bowl and handle together.

01

Solid

One blank

Bowl and handle come from the same piece, so there is no glue line to fail and nothing to work loose in a jar.

02

Small

Jar sized

Short enough to live in the jar it belongs to rather than in a drawer across the kitchen.

03

Kind

On ceramics

Wood is softer than glaze, so it never leaves the grey marks metal leaves on the inside of a cup.

04

Individual

Its own grain

Every blank reads differently. Out of a set, no two spoons look quite the same.

FROM THE WORKSHOP

The trick with a small spoon is the thickness where the bowl meets the handle. Too thin and it snaps in a jar of set honey; too thick and it feels like a toy. Everything else is decoration.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered

A few things worth knowing before it arrives.

What oil should I use?

Any food-safe finishing oil. Rub a little in, leave it ten minutes, wipe the excess off.

Can I leave one in the honey jar?

Yes, that is where they are happiest. Rinse and dry it when the jar is empty.

Will they crack?

Only if they are soaked or dried hard — a dishwasher is the usual culprit. Hand washed and dried, they last for years.

Are they good for hot drinks?

Yes. Wood does not conduct heat, so the handle stays cool while you stir.

Do they come as a set?

They arrive together, and they read as a group precisely because the grain is different on each one.

Made by hand

The variation is the object, not a flaw.

Every piece is shaped, sanded and finished in a small workshop. Grain, tone and outline move from one to the next, so the piece that arrives is yours rather than a copy of the photograph.
