How big is it?

Spot clean with a damp cloth. Don't put it in a machine — jute shrinks and the weave tightens.

A soft-sided basket worked by hand in jute and cotton, with a contrasting trim around the belly so the weave reads as texture rather than pattern. Two handles, stitched flat so they fold down out of the way.

It stands eleven inches tall, which is enough to swallow a plastic nursery pot and leave only the plant showing. There is no drainage hole, so keep the pot inside it rather than planting straight in. Empty, it takes blankets, laundry or toys without ever looking like storage.

Questions, answered

A few things worth knowing before it arrives.

Can I plant straight into it?

No. There's no drainage hole and no liner, so keep the plant in its nursery pot inside the basket.

How do I water the plant?

Lift the pot out, water it, let it drain and put it back. That keeps the jute dry, which is what makes it last.

Will it match the photo?

Closely. It's handwoven, so the trim line and the tightness of the weave vary a little from basket to basket.

What else can it hold?

Blankets, laundry, toys, firewood. Empty it holds its own next to a sofa.

Can it go outside?

Keep it indoors. Jute takes on damp quickly and won't dry out well on a terrace.
