What do I get?

Two hangers, each 30 in / 76 cm long. The planter and the plant are not included.

How much weight will it take?

20 lb / 9 kg per hanger. That covers most planters up to about ten inches across once they are watered.

What hook do I need?

One that goes into a joist or takes a proper cavity fixing. The rope is the strong part — the ceiling is usually the weak one.

Will the jute change colour?

Slowly, yes. Light and handling darken natural jute over time, which most people prefer to the colour it arrives in.

On the floor a plant is something you step around. At eye level it is something you look at. A hanger costs almost nothing and changes the whole room, which is a better trade than most furniture offers.

Questions, answered

A few things worth knowing before it arrives.

Does it come with a hook?

No. Ceilings differ too much for one hook to be the right answer — use a fixing rated for your ceiling and for the loaded weight.

Can I shorten it?

Yes, by tying it off higher at the hook. Cutting it is possible but you will need to finish the ends so the jute does not unravel.

Will it hold a big planter?

Up to 20 lb / 9 kg watered, per hanger. Weigh a full planter before you trust it with a large one.

Does jute stretch?

A little at first, as the knots settle. Hang it, load it, and check the height again after a week.

Can I use it outdoors?

Under cover, yes. Jute left in the rain will rot, so a sheltered balcony is the limit.
