Each holder comes off the lathe as one piece — no joints, no glued-on base, nothing to work loose.
TURNED WOOD · SET OF TWO10 in and 8 in
Matte black · A pair, not a repeat
Two turned wooden holders finished matte black, one ten inches tall and one eight, so they read as a pair rather than a repeat. Nothing on them but the taper. Put them together on a table and the difference in height does the work.

One is 10 in / 25 cm tall and the other 8 in / 20 cm. Together they read as a pair; alone, either one still works.
No. They take standard tapers — the black tapers and the beeswax candles in this shop both fit.
The base is bare wood with no felt. On a lacquered or polished table, stand them on a tray or a cloth.
Let it harden, then lift it out with your fingers or a blunt wooden edge. Never dig at it with metal and never put them in water.

Sized for standard taper candles, which are not included — the black tapers in this shop fit. Felt-free base: set them on a tray or a cloth if your table marks easily.

Orders are prepared in 1–3 business days. Delivery then takes 3–7 business days from a US warehouse, or 7–20 from an overseas workshop. Tracking arrives by email, and an order with several pieces can turn up in more than one parcel.
Changed your mind? You have thirty days. Return shipping within the US is on us.
We work with solid wood, stone, glass and natural fibre, chosen for how they age rather than how they photograph. Every piece is finished by hand, so grain, tone and outline shift from one to the next.
A QUIET OBJECT
A matched pair of the same height reads as symmetry, which is a decision. Ten and eight reads as a group, which is a habit. Stand them together and the table looks arranged rather than set — and it still looks right when only one of them is lit.

MATERIAL & MAKING
Turned wood, matte black, and no ornament anywhere.
Solid
Each holder comes off the lathe as one piece — no joints, no glued-on base, nothing to work loose.
Matte
Flat rather than glossy, so the holders disappear against a dark wall and let the flame be the bright thing.
Paired
Ten inches and eight. The gap is deliberate: it is what makes two objects look like one arrangement.
Standard
Cut for the ordinary taper size, so you are never hunting for a candle that fits.
FROM THE WORKSHOP
“A candle holder should be the least interesting thing on the table once it is lit. We turn the profile down until there is nothing left to look at, and then we stop.

GOOD TO KNOW
A few things worth knowing before it arrives.
Yes — the price is for the pair, the tall one and the short one.
Stop while there is still an inch above the cup. A taper burned to the base puts heat straight onto the wood.
No. The base is left as bare wood, so use a tray or a cloth on any surface that marks.
It can, on an edge. The finish is matte, so a scuff sits quietly rather than shining — but don't stack them.
A dry cloth, or a barely damp one. Never soak them and never put them in the dishwasher.

Made by hand
Every piece is shaped, sanded and finished in a small workshop. Grain, tone and outline move from one to the next, so the piece that arrives is yours rather than a copy of the photograph.
